Spring onion tips

Product Information

Spring onions can turn limp and slimy before you’re able to use them. What to do? Try one of these methods to store them and they’ll last much longer:

Option 1: Place your green onions in a jar, and fill with just enough water to cover the roots. Sit the jar on the window sill and your onions will not only stay fresh but continue to grow. Change or add water every couple days, as needed.

Option 2: Wrap your spring onions in slightly damp paper towel. Then place them inside a plastic bag or storage container. Remoisten the paper towel if it dries out, and replace it if it becomes too wet.

Option 3: Chop up the spring onions, put them into a zip-lock bag and store in the freezer. They’re ready to go and thaw out very quickly.

NOTE: If they’re really past their prime, cut off the last few centimetres of each onion (the white part with the roots) and plant it. You’ll end up with a fresh supply of green onions!
